Before Web 2.0 day

I am not at all sure what i expect from the Web 2.0 day. I do know that I am wondering why there is a '.0' and it isn't simply '2', maybe that is what I expect to find out. Maybe i am a little confused by the Wilkipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2 which suggests that it is not a new development in technology but a way software is used. One thing that does interest me is the effect of peer to peer relationships in an academic community; especially a community which has a very strong (rigid?) hierarchical structure. The careful possession of knowledge and how it is shared out through traditional means could be undermined and maybe the kings new clothes will be shown to be what they truly are, but who believes in truth anyway?
